#throwbackthursday: LISA FRANK

earlier this week Urban Outfitters made the past, cool again bringing back Lisa. Lisa Frank. If you don't remember her or the brand (which how could you not) (shame on you) she made the best school supplies and accessories for young girls. She made having binders, backpacks, and folders a fashion statement. Now UO has reintroduced her vintage collection, in a limited supply online (not sure if in stores). Also with the reintroduction of her collection, they went to the Lisa Frank headquarters in Arizona to film an interview with the very annoyamous Lisa. Check it out below: They did a great job filming this, making a 20 something year old girl happy again... & I also I feel like Pharrell Williams could live in her headquarters.... anyone? & the dancing Lisa Bears!! & the music!! & Mila Kunis!! Oh My Cuteness!!!

j'love: Sophia Amoruso

This week Forbes mag/.com came out an amazinggg interview with Sophia Amoruso(founder/creator of Nasty Gal) giving me one more reason to love her. The real reason I know about her is because I was insta-stalking and saw someone like her instagram page, leading me to read she was the Founder @ Nasty Gal. I instantly let out a woah. She was just as cool as her brand, obviously, but she was just really cool. Posting pics that were relatable yet also very artsy and fashion forward. I instantly loved her, and loved nasty gal which i was not the biggest fan of before.(not really my style, just cause im not that bad ass.) But knowing that it was her website, made me LOVEEEE it. This year, Nasty Gal sales will reach %128 million dollars with a company worth at $130 mil. WOAH WOAH WOAH. Part of the success comes from selling 93% of inventory at full price(omg), marketing through social networks, and being beyond loyal to customers. Congrats Nasty GALS ! via: Forbes.com

pinkberry, blueberry, and buebelly

everything gets knocked off. animals eat other animals to survive in the food chain, many designers/businesspeople/people do the same, but to survive in more of a money chain. The fashion world is constantly trying to fight off these people who knock off every kind of label, super high end (Hermes) to super average (Sam Edelman). The police force is cracking down on more and more sellers every year, illegally selling counterfeited goods, but what happens when you see a whole entire store knocked off? BUEBELLY HAPPENS !!! YAY! Photobucket Unfortunately, Buebelly can only be found in China. SARA BLAKELY

"embrace what you don't know"

Forbes' neweset billionaire failed multiple times during her youth. Selling fax machines for 7 years, Sara Blakely knew one day she would make it and did. So inspirational!!

"Once I had a perfected prototype in hand, I called the buyer at Neiman Marcus
and introduced myself over the phone. I said I had invented a product their
customers would not want to live without, and if I could have ten minutes of her
time, I would fly to Dallas. She agreed! I put the prototype in a zip lock bag
from my kitchen, threw it in my good-luck red backpack, and was on a plane.
During the meeting, I had no shame... I asked her to follow me to the ladies
room where I personally showed her the before/after in my cream pants. Three
weeks later SPANX was on the shelves of Neiman Marcus! I then called all my
friends and begged them to go to Neiman's and make a huge fuss over the product
and buy them up. At just the moment I was running out of friends, Spanx caught
on and the rest is history. I did the same thing with Saks, Nordstrom,
Bloomingdales, and all my other retailers!"

Fifth & Pacific

Again, Fifth & Pacific ...........

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Doesn't the name sound like any ordinary department store private label........Well it's not. It's the new new name for Liz Claiborne Inc. the group that owns Juicy Couture, Lucky Brand, & Kate Spade. The name change was created as Liz Claiborne Inc. continues to make small steps in becoming a more profitable company, and in a desperate attempt to re brand the Liz Claiborne name. There is either much or little confusion to anyone who knows the real Liz. The real Liz was a Belgian born woman who was awesome because she started her own brand (LizClaiborneInc.) and made it amazingly profitable and great. She sold upscale woman's fashions in the 80's and became the first woman to be a CEO of a Fortune 500 company (amazing!) But the Liz I ever knew was a really really low scale brand that was just plain, boring, and meant for woman in their 50's +. But today she is no longer part of her own company as the Liz Claiborne brand is only sold in JCpenney stores, and really has nothing to do with Liz Claiborne Inc. So long story short it is important for both brands to finally differentiate themselves and not have poor Kate Spade & her $400 handbags in the same sentence as Liz. . The change takes place around May 15.

P.S did you know Kate Spade is David Spade's brother?

Here is a vid with a little more explanation:
