Fifth & Pacific
Again, Fifth & Pacific ...........

Doesn't the name sound like any ordinary department store private label........Well it's not. It's the new new name for Liz Claiborne Inc. the group that owns Juicy Couture, Lucky Brand, & Kate Spade. The name change was created as Liz Claiborne Inc. continues to make small steps in becoming a more profitable company, and in a desperate attempt to re brand the Liz Claiborne name. There is either much or little confusion to anyone who knows the real Liz. The real Liz was a Belgian born woman who was awesome because she started her own brand (LizClaiborneInc.) and made it amazingly profitable and great. She sold upscale woman's fashions in the 80's and became the first woman to be a CEO of a Fortune 500 company (amazing!) But the Liz I ever knew was a really really low scale brand that was just plain, boring, and meant for woman in their 50's +. But today she is no longer part of her own company as the Liz Claiborne brand is only sold in JCpenney stores, and really has nothing to do with Liz Claiborne Inc. So long story short it is important for both brands to finally differentiate themselves and not have poor Kate Spade & her $400 handbags in the same sentence as Liz. . The change takes place around May 15.

For the past two years artist Luis Gispert has spent his time discovering the "luxuries" behind car clubs and personal items. His interest began in 2009 as many car fanatics began obsessing over the beauty of the logo. Or rather the significance. The interiors of these cars have been transformed into a logo machine, being driven as two brands rather than one. Though with the issues of counterfeit going on around the world, these car owners view their cars as personal art, and not as an imitation of high fashion design.

Knocked Off with Skechers
Earlier today while I was watching the girls chat it up on The View, I came across a BOBS commercial. I guess this is old news but I never knew Skechers (which according to their commercial is the second largest footwear company iN THE WORLD!!! WOW SKECHERS WOW) was still a relevant brand today. But I should have known as they have stores opened in local malls, City Walk, and also carry a shoe display at Costco. I definitely should have known. The success of the Shape Ups have led them into their next moneymaker ($$$$) a knock off of the TOMS alpargata design. Skechers was so sweet and decided they wanted to help out the kids living in poverty too! They even decided they wanted to use the same method in which to help (every product sold, a person in need is helped). So Sweet. They even decided they wanted to use a similar design!!! AWWW and even come up with a short and simple name. BOBS. enough getting upset, I guess it was a nice gesture.
